HOOKING A PLAYER
"Adorable, Adeola" she heard her voice again as she wiped her face with a big swab of cotton wool. She wished the scar of Soji's finger nails were no more obvious but she had to agree it had healed fast enough after the fight. It was her sister-in-law who had visited and she didn't want her to know that her husband had 'mutilated' her recently. She would be disappointed after the last time when Soji prostrated in her presence and held her feet that he would never 'teach her a lesson' again for checking his phone.
As Clara's voice drew nearer, she knew she had to be fast but as she sprang up from the stool and glanced again at the mirror feigning excitement with a 'yes', she discovered that she couldn't pretend. She broke into tears. Clara finally opened the door and just took her into her arms.
"I knew you would want to cover it. I saw the scar immediately I came in...." Clara finally said. "He beat you again?"
Adeola gave a weak nod. "Clara, I guess its all my fault" She admitted as if she remembered something.
"Now, don't blame yourself for doing whatever you did to deserve this. Soji can not keep abusing you and you end up blaming yourself. No matter what you did, you are not a slave and should not be treated as such..." she murmured "moreover, I'm very sure what you did is insignificant..."

Are you in an abusive relationship??/
When you hear 'abusive'. what first comes to your mind? Well, many things but in this part of the world, the male-female relationship is one of many options. People don't really bother if anyone has an abusive friend, sibling or classmate as much as an abusive boyfriend, fiance or even husband (usually) even though that has no intention to deny the fact that abuse in whatever form and in whichever context is serious business.
Today, many people suffer in their relationships just to make things work (or so they think) but is it worth it?

Ping!!!!! Ping!!!!!!
This morning, a friend forwarded something to my bbm and I was like ‘wow’. We have had issues like ‘don’t married people keep in touch with their friends?’, ‘why don’t you keep in touch?’ and so on. You know the normal things. The forwarded message titled ‘delete theory’ was all about people who you should delete from your bbm. The list was countless; proud friends, feeling too pretty/rich, you are always the first to ping, you added someone and he was like ‘how did you get my pin?’, the person hasn’t pinged for three weeks, the person’s only reply is LOL, she threatens to delete you, you celebrate your birthday and no message at all, your friend is giving you rules, you have put the person’s pictures as DP several times but yours has never been on his own DP, your pings are showing R yet no reply. The list is countless. For most part of the message I laughed.

WHEN CAN MY BABY START WEARING SHOES?
You may be surprised to hear that before
your baby starts walking, she doesn’t need shoes. In actual fact, supportive
shoes like hard-soled may even get in the way of your child's developing
mobility. Socks, booties, and soft-soled baby shoes are useful for warmth, but
bare feet are fine, too. I’m not talking of the fancy looking booties that pass
for shoes. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t beautify her feet though but keep in
mind that they are not needed yet.

HOW TO BUILD YOUR CHILD'S SELF-ESTEEM
Nurturing your child's self-esteem may seem like a hefty responsibility. After all, a feeling of self-worth lays the foundation for your rug rat's future as he sets out to try new things on his own.
Self-esteem comes from having a sense of belonging, believing that we're capable, and knowing our contributions are valued and worthwhile.
As any parent knows, self-esteem is a fleeting experience. Sometimes we feel good about ourselves and sometimes we don't. What we're really trying to teach our kids are life skills like resiliency. Your child's mood must be able to bounce back no matter what.
Your goal as a parent is to ensure that your child develops pride and self-respect — in himself and in his cultural roots —

Confession of a bachelor
I asked her, "Don't you think you need a change, I mean a break from this relationship?"
"What do you mean?", she snarled. "Oh, you are double-dating....Look into my eyes and tell me you are not seeing someone else. After all we have been through together...." she ranted breathlessly and I regretted making that statement. This is it. Another episode of our arguments.
"I was wondering why I wasn't properly introduced as your fiance to that girl at the mall. You said you attended thesame university. Now, you are telling me we need a break. Is that my reward for staying with you at the hospital for a whole one week and I was going to have the toughest exams I ever had. I had to re-sit my human anatomy just because I slept off in the examination hall, Desmond."
I was about to say something when she clapped irritably and continued nagging. I folded my arms and sat defeated on my new leather sofa, so soft. I could call it home.
"You know I am the best student in my class, Desmond. Yet I had a re-sit. Okay, tell me, what have I done this time? You have been insensitive, did you even notice I had a stiff neck? No. I have been living like I have no one ever since we went to the mall together. Bless my soul, If I ever set my eyes on that husband snatcher, I will uproot her damn hair."
"Now, don't start cursing" I managed to say but she was racing with her words that I could never catch up. She swung her energetic arms around the throw pillow and squeezed gently. "You mean you want to leave me now after you got that big job and I exhausted myself trying to choose something nice for your apartment. Of course, Desmond, you are colour blind. If you doubt that, tell me if this is lilac or magenta.'

GRANDMA, DON’T GET CREATIVE WITH MY BABY’S FACE

Mr. & Mrs. Babatola just had a baby girl.
It had been a long wait of four years and finally came a beautiful baby girl.
She was such a special baby that at the hospital where she was born, a
commissioner’s grand daughter was also born almost at the same time so she
received many special gifts which came from friends and family of the other
baby, who wanted to see a 3.8Kg baby girl that almost came at the reception if
not for grace and by natural birth. Mr. Babatola just got promoted at work and
as for Mrs. Babatola, her consignment just arrived the country. Apparently, she
fell in love with the business of selling baby things when she started shopping
for her babies (she was praying for twins) and she had made steps to start the
business as soon as she put to bed. It was a good way to be productive since
she quit her banking job. She was happy that at last, her goods were in the
country and if not for her condition, she would visit the warehouse everyday
just to see her dreams unfold.

HOW TO GET RID OF THE SMELL IN YOUR REFRIGERATOR
No
matter how clean you are or how much you love a clean and fresh-smelling
refrigerator, sometimes you just fall victim of a messy one. You may just be
too busy engrossed in other important chores around the house or you have no
time at all. It could be that the person helping out with chores around the
house has not been doing a thorough job and dirt has been accumulated.
Sometimes, forgetting food in the refrigerator with power outage in between the
period can also be the cause. (Oh, how
bad the smell of rotten meat, but let me not bore you with the cause. I bet the
solution is why you are reading this.)

HOW TO SAVE YOUR CHILD FROM BAD INFLUENCES
Children of today will become adults tomorrow, no doubt. No doubt also that the adults of today were once kids. I remember when I was little and I used to think that adulthood is a state of being perfect. I thought we were being caned for doing wrong just because we were young and that by the time we attained adulthood, we would be perfect (knowing right from wrong and doing right). Then, I was surprised when people still complained about adults too. It even got worse when I saw some adults engage in violence
CHOOSING YOUR PERFUME
If someone asks me what I want as a gift, I unabashedly tell them that they can gift me a perfume and also I have no qualms about telling them which brand I would prefer. Well, I know, it’s very inglorious of me to do so, but clothes and jewelry as gifts are a big no-no for me because I never really like what others choose for me. As far as perfumes are concerned, I have no inhibitions in accepting whatever comes my way.
People have been distilling and using perfumes since ancient ages, perfume distilleries were used ever since 2000 B.C. One of the most ancient forms of applying fragrance was in the form of oil and wax. Egyptian women used to wear wax cones on their heads. These cones would slowly melt in the heat releasing the perfume and fragrance. Since Egyptian women used to shave their heads completely, they had no problem letting all the wax and grease depositing on their head, how disgusting.

NAMING YOUR BABY
You may have been looking forward to carrying your own baby all these while. I am sure if you are someone like me, you would probably have been stealing the admiration of babies around you. I did that before I gave birth to my princess (and still do, of course). Babies are so adorable and indeed, they are our source of blessings.
Now, after all the period of waiting, you are expecting your bundle of joy. You may have one thousand and one names in mind. Sometimes, it may be challenging to give your baby the perfect name especially because you have so much to say. Fancy giving your baby so many names (from grandma, grandpa, aunty and so on. My baby has twenty-one names, yet two more names came after the naming ceremony).
Giving your baby the best fit of a name requires that you should be thoughtful, sensitive and even prayerful. What is in a name after all? (You can ask Jabez or Jacob for that). But for your baby, I will lend you a hand, and of course, choosing your baby's name solely depends on you. All I can do for you is give you tips on how to come about that name that is just right.
Choosing a name for your baby can be harder than you think. As well as coming up with something both mother and father like, the name of your baby will stay with him or her forever for the rest of his life, so it must be suitable for all ages.
CHOOSING A NAME
As a starting point for discovering which names you like and which you don't, have a look through the numerous baby names around you. Ask your partner to also do the same. On your comparison list, identify the names that are common to both of you.
Take note of your baby's initials. The initials you love might just inspire the names you will finally come up with. For example; someone who love the initial MKO might just look out for names that will achieve those initials.
Make sure the names you pick are easy to pronounce and if not, think up the abbreviation that will help your baby to be addressed well and properly among his or her peers. Children can be naughty and giving your child a name that will make going to school a tragedy because of jesters is simply unfair.
WHAT IS IN A NAME?
Ask Naomi's sons in the bible, names are powerful. I might not be able to quote exactly now, but I read somewhere that the names of Naomi's sons meant something like 'puppy' or let's just say young animals. No wonder they didn't last. Don't be careless in giving your baby a good name. It has a way of affecting such a child. I was in a group sometime ago and a particular man was made the leader, not for any other reason but because he said his first name was Champion. Can you beat that? Well, stuffs like that don't happen everytime but I bet a good name is far better than a bad or thoughtless one.
